And in order to do that you have to make sure that the food you are going to store is being safely stored, specially cooked food, or else it is going to be wasted, or no longer suitable to be eaten.


You have to understand which type of food to be stored in a freezer, what could be stored in refrigerator and what could be left in your kitchen cabinet.

And to make it easier for you, you have to keep every frozen thing you already bought in a freezer, the same goes for refrigerator stuff.


When it comes to raw protein as fish, meat and poultry it should be either kept in a refrigerator or a freezer and this depends on when are you going to cook them.

So for example if you are going to cook the chicken you bought tomorrow then it’s better to be kept in the refrigerator, if it will take you 2 or more days then you have to put it in the freezer.


And keep stored things hygienic you have to know at which temperature it should be stored. when it comes to refrigerator, it is better for the interior to not exceed 4 degrees Celsius for food safety reasons.


While you are doing groceries you should keep an eye on places where you can buy larger volume of long shelf life items, at a lower price, in order for these items to be stored in your kitchen cabinet, for a duration that doesn’t exceed 3 months, and always use the FIFO technique while consuming them, FIFO stands for first in first out.

So simply to lower the food waste at your household you have to smartly plan your meals, and purchasing, and with practice you will be able to know exactly what to buy and in what quantity.
